INTERACTIVE SWING SET: wii remote, video and audio

DESCRIPTION
Swinging on the swing set the user of this installation can control a video screen and real time recorded sound by swinging back and forth. The video image zooms out everytime the person on the swing swings back. This way the experience of moving gets enhanced. At the same time the pitch and speed of the sound changes with the position and acceleration of the swinger.

The singing swing has a build in Wii Remote that tracks

of the person using the swing set.
Via bluetooth the Wii Remote sends the data from its build in sensor to my computer. A Max/MSP patch that is running on my computer transforms the data into visual- and sound effects. A little microphone hidden in a flower records the voice of the user, who is swinging on the swing set. The user will hear the own voice distorted depending on the way he/she swings. Via Max/MSP the recorded sound gets filtered in accordance to the swing’s tilt, angle and acceleration. This way the user can control the sound like a DJ, but with her whole body receiving instant feedback over speakers on each side of the swing set.
